New Zealand

Renewable energy contributes to over 83% of New Zealands electricity generation.

Using predominantly hydro and geothermal, New Zealand is one of the world’s lowest carbon dioxide emitting countries in terms of electricity generation.

Dominated by seven main suppliers servicing commercial and industrial sectors, with some geographical and sector specialization. Most of New Zealand’s electricity is generated at remote locations and requires an efficient transmission system to transport it to the main centres.

In recent years, security of supply (gas, water and transmission line capacity) has seen key areas of risk for buyers.
